Travel Guides for México, Mi Amor

From cenotes to street tacos and pueblos mágicos—here are my insider guides to the Mexico I know and love.

How I Started Writing the World

I wrote my first diary entry around eight years old and was gifted my first Sony camera at sixteen. I’ve been a writer and photographer at heart for as long as I can remember, and my first experience with wanderlust was on a family vacation to Belize in 2003. Little did I know then that my future self would carve a career out of marrying those two passions together. In 2013, I published online journal-style blogs to document my 14-month study abroad in France. Then, during my life-changing move to Nepal in 2015 to study humanitarian aid, I launched my first travel blog. A few years later, I pivoted to pursue my writing and photography full-time. I’ve lived in over ten countries and cultures—from Nepal to Mexico to Japan to Colombia and beyond—and have been sharing my real, raw adventures and reflections with the world since—not only to document my travels but to inspire others to follow their magic in pursuit of a life fully lived.

Adventures Off the Beaten Path

Fancy hiking on an active volcano? Or how about camping in a dragon blood tree forest? Here are my stories and guides to lesser-known, underrated destinations that pack a punch of both culture and adventure.

Sleeping Under Stars & Dragon Blood Trees: Camping Across Socotra Island (Yemen)

Untouched landscapes and warm, welcoming Soqotri locals makes this remote archipelago nestled between the Arabian Sea and the Horn of Africa one of the most WILD places to visit. It’s the kind of trip that shifts your perspective—and stays with you long after you’ve left.

My Homestay in Barauli: A Window into Tharu Life in Southern Nepal

My stay in Barauli, a small Tharu village on the edge of Chitwan National Park, was one of the most meaningful parts of my pilgrimage back to Nepal after eight years away. From cooking local meals to cycling the countryside roads under the rain, every moment transported me. I was reminded how travel should be—about connections, not checklists.
