Do you agree? Is this Mexico’s most beautiful beach?! It’s often rated as one of the top beaches in the world!

Playa Balandra is more than a beach though, it’s a protected bay and natural area that is home to a large mangrove and many bird and fish species!

And it’s open again to the public!!

Balandra was closed for many months due to a yacht wreckage that left the bay polluted with oil. 😔

***Leave No Trace when you visit! 🌿 Pick up your trash, don’t climb on the Mushroom Rock, stay on marked trails, and do not disturb the marine or wildlife***

✨ THINGS TO DO AT BALANDRA

🛶 Kayak/SUP
🍄 See the mushroom rock
🤿 Swim/snorkel
🥾 Hike to the viewpoint

✨ + TIPS FOR VISITING (save this for later!)

• BYOB and snacks/picnic
• Balandra closes at 5pm (but they don’t let in new cars after 4:30pm)
• Catch the last bus at 4:40pm or 18:40pm
• It’s a 30-min bus ride from La Paz Malécon

I’ll definitely be back to spend a whole day here and at the surrounding beaches!

🌋 DAYS 1-3: ANTIGUA

Welcome to Guatemala! Your private transfer will pick you up at La Aurora International Airport and take you to your hotel in the old colonial and elegant city of Antigua Guatemala! Antigua, as it is called, was the epicenter of power during the 17th and 18th centuries. We will have a welcome meeting + dinner on our first night. Let the fun and adventures begin!!

🧘‍♀️ DAYS 4-6: LAGO DE ATITLÁN

Transfer to Lake Atitlán, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and the deepest in Central America! We will spend the next few days participating in local art/weaving co-ops 🎨, relaxing lakeside in heated outdoor springs ♨️, and exploring the indigenous Maya towns of San Pedro (where Paul, Yoda, and I stayed for 2 months), colorful San Juan, chill Santa Cruz, and the hippiesque town of San Marcos 🧘‍♀️.

🌿 DAYS 7-8: LANQUÍN & SEMUC CHAMPEY

Semuc Champey is a collection of tiered pools atop natural limestone in the jungles of Guatemala 🐆. It’s known for its turquoise lakes, lush greenery, and the time and effort it takes to get there. We will be spending the night in a jungly eco-hotel 🌿, with a full day to spend swimming and exploring the Semuc Champey pools and Lanquín Caves!

✨ DAYS 9-10: ANTIGUA + DEPARTURES

We will make the journey back to Antigua where we will explore more of the city's gems, including my favorite speakeasy 🍹 and a night in a lovely boutique hotel (former convent) with stunning colonial architecture. On Day 10, we will help you get to GUA airport on time for your flight home 💛.

I feel like life loves me just as much as I love life. And we all deserve to feel like that, right?

PS — I am super proud of Paul who jumped even though he’s fairly afraid of heights! I think this cliff was about 25ft which isn’t crazy but it definitely made my stomach plunge!! 😨

Bonaire is everything that I looove in a destination. It’s a place that feels like ME.

This tiny island off the coast of Venezuela in the Dutch Caribbean might be small, but it’s mighty! It has:

From diving to landsailing to caving to kitesurfing, there is always an outdoor adventure waiting on Bonaire.

But there is also lots of culture and history and music and art (and reallyyy good seafood)!

Bonairean culture is at the confluence of several different cultures, languages, food, and music styles! So it’s a mixed platter of colors and sounds and smells and flavors that transport you, inspire you, and welcome you.

It’s a Caribbean island unlike any other. It’s where Mother Nature meets human nature 🌿💛

And that’s exactly the type of do-good, feel-good vacation I want to go on.
