“Your cat did WHAT?!” 💩 We move countries

“Your cat did WHAT?!” 💩

We move countries a lot as digital nomads, and, to many people’s surprise, our cat Yoda comes with us!

If you’re ever flying with your cat in the cabin, you may be wondering… ✈️

- Can I take my cat to the bathroom with me?
- What do you do if your cat needs to go to the loo? (If you’re British, lol)
- How do you make your cat use the bathroom?

1. Yes! Your cat must remain in their carrier at all times during the flight, but you can let them use the potty. There are packable cat litters for travel, but I just let Yoda out in the bathroom and placed a bit of litter in a plastic/biodegradable bag that Paul packed in his carry-on.

2. I can’t tell when Yoda needs to go, so I just count the hours since he last went. For short flights under < 3 hours, I don’t take him. For longer flights of 4-6+ hours, I’ll go mid-flight to make sure he’s comfortable.

3. I didn’t train Yoda to pee (or poop) in a DIY cat litter box but if he needs to go, he’ll go if given the chance. Otherwise, he’ll hold it until we arrive and he can go comfortably!

If you’re wondering what I did with 💩, I flushed it! And saved the clean litter for when we land in our new destination. Since pet stores vary around the world, and since we sometimes arrive late in our destination, we can’t always stock up on litter needs. So, packing a bit at least lasts us (or Yoda rather!) through our first night in a new country or home.

I made a promise to myself a month ago that I have

I made a promise to myself a month ago that I haven’t kept. Well, not entirely anyway.

In August, I experienced a high like no other — being immersed in a tight-knit community of legendary travel writers and photographers who planted in me a seed that glows with love, light, and magic.

The experience was so powerful that I believe all of my cells drank it up like life-saving water.

I needed it, I just didn’t know just how much until it had happened (much like writing blog posts or taking photos — I don’t know what I am writing/creating until I do it).

Anyway, I came back from that experience transformed, and I thought my next steps would be easy, certain, and obvious.

But the reality is I actually have been feeling stuck, lost, and overwhelmed.

Then, slowly, it occurred to me.

If I want to truly accept this transformation — and by that I mean truly apply it to my life by the actions I take and not just the feelings of inspiration I create — then I need to accept that it might look and feel a bit like being stuck, lost, and overwhelmed.

Because transformation, while beautiful, is mostly ugly.

And if I want to be transformed, I need to do the work.

The ugly work.

The behind-the-scenes work that isn’t designed to satisfy social media algorithms.

The boring work that requires me to do the same thing over and over again until I reach a breakthrough.

And then came my second realization.

I have everything I need and desire already available to me. The love, light, and magic of August (Book Passage) were 100% proof of that.

So, here I am.

Sharing my promise.

Because I need accountability.

I want you to know that I am going through an ugly transformation — sometimes quietly and invisibly, sometimes loudly and overtly — but a transformation nonetheless.

And that I am done playing small.
